Escale is Anna Velzo's debut classical album, released in 2010. It is a recording that honors her classical roots, yet makes her music accessible and appealing to listeners of varied musical tastes. The title, Escale, is a French word for port of call--a place visited on a journey. Using her lyrical oboe with piano and cello accompaniment, Anna leads the listener on such a journey with a story of beauty, sadness, mourning and resolve, emerging with hope of what is to come. Selections flowing from Bach to Saint Saens, Ibert, Tierson, Piazzolla, and contemporary Shakarian and Glass are the conduits of the journey. Phillip Glass and Yann Tierson pieces arranged by Anna Velzo.
